How to play Batak Trump Spades.
Number of Players: 4.
The game uses a standard 52‑card deck. Each player receives 13 cards. All spade cards are trumps.
In Swamp Trump Spades, only spades are called as trump.
The goal is to predict how many tricks you can win before the round starts and then try to win at least that many.
Starting with the player to the dealer’s right, everyone states how many tricks they expect to take, and this is recorded on the scoreboard.
Gameplay:
The next player leads with any card if the table is empty. If a card is already on the table, they must follow suit if possible.
If they cannot follow suit, they may play a trump card; otherwise, they can discard any card.
Scoring:
After each round, scores are calculated based on the number of tricks a player pledged at the start versus the tricks actually won.
If they meet or exceed their pledged tricks:
10 × pledged tricks + (tricks won − pledged tricks) points.
If they win fewer tricks than pledged:
They receive −10 × pledged tricks points.
If a player bids zero tricks at the start of the round:
They earn +50 points for winning no tricks, or −50 points if they take any trick.
"Settling" refers to failing to reach your bid by the end of the game.
