Oscar Isaac's Star Wars Celebration 2025 Appearance Fuels Poe Dameron Return Speculation

Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac's confirmed appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo (April 18-20) has ignited fan speculation about a potential return of his character, Poe Dameron. The announcement, made via the official Star Wars Celebration Instagram, follows Daisy Ridley's 2023 Celebration appearance and subsequent confirmation for a new Star Wars film.

Isaac's past comments on returning to the franchise have been varied. Initially expressing reluctance, he later stated an openness to future involvement. His past criticism of Disney's handling of the Sequel Trilogy, particularly regarding a proposed romance between Poe and Finn (John Boyega's character), adds another layer to the anticipation. Boyega himself has also expressed mixed feelings about his time in the Star Wars universe but has indicated potential future participation.

The speculation centers around the upcoming Rey film, set approximately 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, focusing on Rey's efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Ridley has already voiced her hope for Boyega's return, making a reunion of the Sequel Trilogy's main trio – Rey, Finn, and Poe – a strong possibility.

The potential for this reunion is further fueled by the ongoing delays of several announced Star Wars projects. While the Rey film, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, remains without a firm release date, the earliest possible premiere is now December 17, 2027. Star Wars Celebration 2025 might offer some concrete answers, but fans may face a considerable wait for definitive confirmation.
