Anbernic Suspends U.S. Deliveries Over Tariffs

Authore: GabriellaUpdate:Oct 03,2026

Retro handheld console manufacturer Anbernic has temporarily halted all U.S. orders.

As reported by The Verge, the company cited "changes in U.S. tariff policies" as the reason, advising customers to "prioritize items from our U.S. warehouse inventory, which remain unaffected by import duties." Any orders requiring shipment from China have been suspended indefinitely.

The company gained popularity for its affordable Game Boy-inspired devices, typically shipped directly from China upon release before establishing U.S. warehouse stock.

While Anbernic's website offers shipping location options, not all products—including the RG CubeXX and RG 406H—are stocked domestically, making them currently unavailable to U.S. buyers.

Recent tariff increases under the Trump administration now impose up to 145% duties on Chinese imports, with potential combined rates reaching 245% for certain products like electric vehicles. While some manufacturers might absorb these costs, consumers often bear the burden. This economic shift has already begun affecting gaming hardware like Nintendo Switch 2 peripherals and gaming laptops.

Anbernic acknowledges it's "exploring solutions" for customers facing unexpected fees during this "transitional period."

PlayNintendo recently showcased the Switch 2 in a 60-minute Nintendo Direct. Originally planned for early April, U.S. and Canadian pre-orders were postponed to April 24 due to tariff uncertainties. While maintaining the $449.99 console price, Nintendo adjusted pricing upward for most Switch 2 accessories.
