Extinction marks the conclusion of the main ARK narrative, presenting players with a unique set of challenges, especially for those who have already navigated through the Scorched Earth and Aberration expansions. You find yourself as a lone survivor on a devastated Earth, piecing together the origins of the Ark system amidst a landscape overrun by Element and inhabited by both robotic and organic creatures, including menacing rexes.

Alongside the new map, several updates have been introduced. Players can now benefit from a new Thick Skin insulation buff, which enhances survival capabilities. In multiplayer PVE settings, creatures will move away from frequently camped locations to prevent griefing. Additionally, there are now limits on the number of light sources that can be placed, curbing spammy builds.
