Second Dinner, a California-based studio, developed the popular game Marvel Snap, which is published by ByteDance's subsidiary, Nuverse. Unfortunately, due to a ban affecting multiple ByteDance apps including CapCut and Lemon8, Marvel Snap was removed from iOS and Android platforms on January 18, 2025. This sudden discontinuation has left many players frustrated, particularly with ongoing authorization issues. However, PC gamers can still access the game via Steam. The developers at Second Dinner expressed their surprise at the incident and are actively working to bring the game back online. According to an official statement from Platform X, "Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress." The lack of prior warning has been particularly frustrating for players who continued to make in-game purchases unaware of the impending lockout.
While Marvel Snap faced this lockout, not all ByteDance games were affected. For example, Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain available for play. Amidst these disruptions, we recently covered the addition of Moonstone, an ongoing card in Marvel Snap. This card is part of the game's Ongoing archetype and is seen as a vital addition to the current meta. As a 4-cost, 6-power card, Moonstone can replicate the ongoing effects of your 1, 2, and 3-cost cards at her lane. Given the abundance of low-cost Ongoing cards like Ant-Man and U.S. Agent, which primarily generate power, Moonstone's ability to gain these effects for free makes her a potentially game-changing card.
