Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to retail at just $19.99.
Despite numerous rumors circulating over the past few days—including a $20 listing on Gamestop (now removed) that was later confirmed by prominent leaker Billbil-kun—developer Team Cherry has officially verified the price, announcing that the game will cost $19.99 in the U.S., €19.99 in Europe, and ¥2300 in Japan.
This is a compelling price point, especially as many publishers are gradually pushing for higher costs. Xbox recently priced the highly anticipated The Outer Worlds 2 at $80—the first title to exceed the standard $70 cap—but following intense fan backlash, they reduced the pre-order cost back to $70 "in line with current market conditions."
The team also announced the precise launch times: 7am PT, 10am ET, 4pm CEST, and 11pm JST.
Team Cherry finally unveiled a release date for the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong during gamescom: September 4, 2025. This news came via a nearly two-minute trailer released by Team Cherry, showcasing extensive new gameplay footage. Viewers saw Hornet exploring various environments, numerous insectoid NPCs, gloomy graveyards, swamps, vibrant cities, fresh enemies and bosses, an Ori-style escape sequence, and more. The game will launch on PC, Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series.
Additionally, we learned that the original Hollow Knight has sold over 15 million copies, a remarkable achievement for an indie title. Coincidentally or not, eight years after its release, Hollow Knight has consistently reached all-time high concurrent player peaks on Steam (according to SteamDB) in recent weeks, surpassing 70K players just last weekend.
While Hollow Knight: Silksong remains the most wishlisted title on Steam, how does it play? We tested two levels from the Hollow Knight: Silksong demo at gamescom 2025—Moss Grotto and Deep Docks. One was accessible, while the other posed a significant challenge. Does it meet expectations? Read our Hollow Knight: Silksong preview from the show floor.
