In Their Shoes: We Are Muesli Announces Innovative Narrative Game Coming 2026

Independent studio We Are Muesli has unveiled their upcoming narrative-driven experience In Their Shoes, scheduled for 2026 release across mobile and PC platforms. The project has already garnered recognition with a nomination for A MAZE. 2025, Berlin's prestigious independent games festival.

A Narrative Experience Focused on Empathetic Listening

Set amidst the vibrant contradictions of contemporary Milan, In Their Shoes invites players to inhabit seven distinct lives through 49 bite-sized interactive vignettes called Moments. Each carefully crafted micro-story offers intimate glimpses into characters' daily routines, fleeting hesitations, and decisive instants.

The gameplay rhythm varies thoughtfully - some Moments unfold with meditative pacing, allowing deeper immersion in a character's psyche, while others demand quick reflexes to mirror real-life urgency. Breaking convention within the genre, the narrative deliberately embraces messy, fragmentary storytelling.

Through gradual discovery, players uncover 26 biographical fragments for each protagonist, weaving together these slice-of-life portraits. While the Play Store listing remains forthcoming, curious players can explore preliminary details via the active Steam page.

The Creative Visionaries Behind the Project

Milan-based We Are Muesli has cultivated a distinctive reputation since 2013 for merging artistic vision with impactful storytelling. Their portfolio includes experimental visual novels (CAVE! CAVE! DEUS VIDET, Venti Mesi), collaborative art projects (Siheyuan), and narrative-driven escape rooms (Ludmilla, Ventiquattro Elle).

Their most recent offline project Who's Who showcases their innovative design philosophy. For development insights, concept sketches, and updates, their Instagram offers an engaging behind-the-scenes perspective.
