- Objects shown in the rebus should always be read in the singular and nominative case.

- Sometimes an arrow in the image indicates the object’s orientation.

- A comma at the start tells you to drop the first letter; one at the end removes the last. Multiple commas mean multiple letters.

- If one letter is made of another, read it by adding “of.”

- If a letter or object is followed by another, read with “for.”

- When an object or letter appears below another, read it with “on,” “above,” or “under.”

- One letter written across another is read with “by”; if attached or adjacent, use “with.”

- An upside-down object means reading its name backward.

- A crossed-out letter next to an object means remove it; another letter above means replace it. An equal sign also indicates substitution.
