La rivalité emblématique entre Marvel et DC est momentanément mise de côté alors que les géants des comics s'unissent pour leur premier crossover depuis JLA/Avengers en 2003. Cet événement historique donne logiquement les rôles principaux à Batman et Deadpool.

Comme le rapporte Entertainment Weekly, Marvel et DC unissent leurs forces pour deux one-shots spéciaux mettant en scène le Chevalier Noir et le Mercenaire à la Bouche. Marvel publiera Deadpool/Batman #1 par le scénariste Zeb Wells (The Amazing Spider-Man) et le dessinateur Greg Capullo (Batman), tandis que DC proposera Batman/Deadpool #1 du légendaire scénariste Grant Morrison (Batman) et du dessinateur Dan Mora (Superman/Batman: World's Finest).
