Nouveaux univers Coco et Avatar à Disneyland, fermeture de l'attraction Mike et Sulley

Disney a confirmé que la future attraction à thème Coco occupera principalement des zones backstage près de Paradise Gardens Park et Pixar Pier de Disney California Adventure, tandis que le nouveau land Avatar prendra la place d'une partie de la section actuelle Hollywood Backlot. Cette transformation signifie que Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! fermera définitivement début 2026 pour laisser place à l'expansion Avatar.

Le Disney Parks Blog a partagé ces détails ainsi que de nouveaux artworks conceptuels, révélant que la construction de l'attraction Coco commencera backstage cet automne. Annoncée pour la première fois lors du D23 2024, il s'agira de la première attraction basée sur le film Pixar adoré.

Inspirée par des attractions classiques comme Haunted Mansion et Pirates of the Caribbean, l'équipe créative de Disney prévoit d'intégrer une technologie Audio-Animatronics révolutionnaire pour donner vie aux personnages squelettiques de manières inédites.

Concernant le projet Avatar, Disney a noté qu'il en est encore aux phases de développement précoce, avec des calendriers de construction et des détails supplémentaires à venir ultérieurement. Bien que dire au revoir à Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! puisse décevoir certains fans, Disney World's Hollywood Studios inaugurera une toute nouvelle zone Monsters, Inc. mettant en scène la première montagne russes suspendue de la station à travers l'entrepôt de portes emblématique de la franchise.

Parallèlement à ces mises à jour d'attractions, Disney a annoncé des projets pour une nouvelle structure de stationnement côté est et un centre de transport remplaçant une partie du parking des cast members de Manchester. Ce développement ajoutera environ 6 000 places de stationnement tout en améliorant la fluidité du trafic avec des zones de navette dédiées, un contrôle de sécurité et un accès depuis Disney Way.

Le projet comprendra une passerelle piétonne au-dessus de Harbor Boulevard menant à une expérience d'entrée sur l'esplanade repensée, tout en maintenant l'accès à Harbor Boulevard elle-même.
