Le mois prochain, 22 jeux quitteront la bibliothèque PlayStation Plus, dont Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, et les dernières versions accessibles des jeux maison Resistance: Fall of Man et Resistance 2.

PlayStation Plus est un service de jeu en ligne pour les plateformes PlayStation, offrant des jeux gratuits mensuels, des essais limités dans le temps, le multijoueur en ligne et des remises exclusives pour les membres. Il propose également un catalogue de centaines de jeux actuels et classiques pour les abonnés Extra et Premium.

Comme rapporté par Push Square, le retrait de 22 titres le 20 mai inclut deux jeux Sony PS3 maison notables, tous deux programmés pour quitter la bibliothèque PS Plus Premium.

Ceci est important car Resistance: Fall of Man et Resistance 2 ne sont plus disponibles à l'achat sur le PS Store, faisant du streaming PS Plus Premium la seule façon d'y jouer, à moins de posséder des copies physiques et une PS3 fonctionnelle. Les deux jeux sont retirés moins d'un an après leur ajout à la bibliothèque fin 2024.

La série Resistance est une collection de jeux de tir à la première personne uchroniques développés par Insomniac après leur travail sur la franchise Ratchet and Clank. Trois jeux Resistance principaux sont sortis sur PS3 avant qu'Insomniac ne se concentre sur des projets comme Marvel's Spider-Man et de nouveaux titres Ratchet and Clank.

Bien qu'il soit rare que Sony retire des jeux maison de ce service, cela s'est déjà produit, comme en témoigne le retrait soudain des deux jeux HorizonHorizon Zero Dawn et Horizon Forbidden West — en août 2024. Cependant, ces titres sont restés disponibles à l'achat après leur retrait ; Resistance: Fall of Man et Resistance 2 ne seront désormais plus du tout disponibles sur les consoles modernes.

Il est intéressant de noter que Resistance 3 et Resistance: Retribution resteront sur le service. Il est également bon de savoir que le jeu PS4 maison plus récent inFamous: Second Son quitte également PS Plus.

La série Resistance d'Insomniac est inactive depuis un certain temps. En février, le fondateur d'Insomniac et président sortant Ted Price a mentionné qu'il y avait une forte pression pour développer Resistance 4, mais le projet n'a jamais été approuvé. Comme la série Killzone de Guerrilla, Resistance a été laissée de côté.
