Next month, 22 games will be leaving the PlayStation Plus library, including Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last accessible versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2.
PlayStation Plus is an online gaming service for PlayStation platforms, offering free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer, and exclusive member discounts. It also provides a catalog of hundreds of current and classic games for Extra and Premium subscribers.
As reported by Push Square, the removal of 22 titles on May 20 includes two notable first-party Sony PS3 games, both scheduled to exit the PS Plus Premium library.

This is significant because Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 are no longer available for purchase on the PS Store, making PS Plus Premium streaming the only way to play them unless you own physical copies and a functioning PS3. Both games are being removed less than a year after their addition to the library in late 2024.
The Resistance series is a collection of alternate history first-person shooters developed by Insomniac after their work on the Ratchet and Clank franchise. Three main Resistance games were released for the PS3 before Insomniac shifted focus to projects like Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank titles.
While it's rare for Sony to remove first-party games from this service, it has happened before, as seen with the sudden removal of both Horizon games — Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West — in August 2024. However, those titles remained available for purchase after their removal; Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will now be completely unavailable on modern consoles.
Interestingly, Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will stay on the service. It's also worth noting that the more recent first-party PS4 game inFamous: Second Son is also departing from PS Plus.
Insomniac's Resistance series has been inactive for some time. In February, Insomniac founder and outgoing president Ted Price mentioned there was a strong push to develop Resistance 4, but the project never received approval. Like Guerrilla's Killzone series, Resistance has been left behind.
