Ubisoft has unveiled its comprehensive plans for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a range of exciting additions including new game+, enhanced difficulty settings, additional story content, and more. In a detailed roadmap update video lasting four and a half minutes, released today, Ubisoft outlined a specific schedule for May and June, aiming to keep fans engaged with a series of free updates throughout 2025.
The post-launch journey kicks off in early May with "The Works of Luis Frois," the first of several free story add-ons. This will be accompanied by a Codex update and several quality-of-life improvements, including substantial parkour enhancements and a photo mode update slated for the following month. Ubisoft emphasized that these updates reflect their ongoing commitment to incorporating community feedback into the development of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
“Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released,” stated community developer Daniel St. Germain in the video. He highlighted that regular title updates will feature significant additions and changes based on player feedback, along with essential bug fixes to enhance the experience across all platforms.
In June, players can expect another free story drop, alongside more challenging difficulty settings, gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear visibility during cutscenes. These features are eagerly anticipated by the community, but Ubisoft promises even more, including new game+ support, additional story content, special collaborations, and other enhancements before the year ends.
A major highlight on the roadmap is the first major DLC expansion, "Claws of Awaji," set to be released later in the year. This expansion will introduce new content such as the Bo staff weapon and a new region for Naoe and Yasuke to explore over a 10-hour journey. While pricing details are yet to be disclosed, the expansion will be free for those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, bringing Ubisoft's iconic stealth series to the backdrop of Feudal Japan. The game has not only secured a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far but also emerged as the best-selling game of last month.
