A new Digimon video game titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger appears to have leaked via GameStop ahead of tonight's PlayStation State of Play presentation.
Gematsu spotted and shared listings for the mysterious project earlier today, publishing store links that will seemingly allow interested players to pre-order copies for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The GameStop pages come without any images or gameplay details related to the currently unannounced Digimon Story: Time Stranger, though it may not be long before we hear something more official.
The leak arrives just hours before Sony’s latest State of Play presentation kicks off. Although no information about what the show will include has been revealed, the company has teased plans to include 40 minutes of content. With ample room for reveals and the Digimon Story: Time Stranger pre-order listings popping up mere hours ago, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the digital monster series make an appearance of some kind.
The Digimon Story series has a rich history that predates this potential new entry listed on GameStop’s website. Longtime fans will fondly recall Bandai Namco's video game spin-off, which earned its name with the original Digimon Story for the Nintendo DS back in the mid-2000s. Since then, a variety of installments have been released across multiple platforms, with notable recent entries including 2015’s Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and 2017’s Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory. A Complete Edition bundled both Cyber Sleuth titles in 2019.
Past entries have immersed players in the world of Digimon, allowing them to befriend and collaborate with monsters in RPG gameplay focused on battling others. However, aside from an announcement in 2022 where franchise producer Kazumashu Habu teased a new Story game, fans have been eagerly awaiting a fresh installment. Releases like Digimon Survive have helped bridge the gap, but if Digimon Story: Time Stranger is officially revealed soon, it could mark the end of a long wait for a true continuation of the series.
