The open beta weekend for Dune: Awakening has just concluded, and the gaming community has uncovered a significant exploit that could change the dynamics of PvP combat. This exploit, known as the "stunlock exploit," allows players to keep their opponents in a perpetual state of stun, rendering them unable to defend themselves or use any abilities. This game-breaking bug was first noticed during the Global LAN Party livestream on May 10, where players, including popular streamers like Tyler1 and Shroud, demonstrated the issue live on their channels, drawing widespread attention to the problem.

During the open beta, participants had the opportunity to experience the first 20-25 hours of Dune: Awakening along with other features. The exploit occurs when a player uses quick knife attacks on an opponent who has depleted their stamina, causing the target to be stuck in a continuous stagger state, unable to escape or retaliate.

The developers at Funcom were quick to respond to the issue during the same livestream. Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley assured the community that the stunlock exploit would be addressed before the game's official launch. Gagné confidently stated, "We got this covered. It's not like 'Oh my god, we haven't thought about it.' It's already going away." The open beta weekend provided the team with valuable feedback and praise, which they will use to refine the game ahead of its release.

Dune: Awakening is slated for release on June 10, 2025, for PC, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions to follow at a later, yet-to-be-announced date. To keep up with the latest developments and news about the game, be sure to check out our related articles.
