"Final Fantasy Starter Kit Preorders Restocked on Amazon"

Authore: GeorgeUpdate:May 20,2025

One of the most thrilling trading card crossovers in recent years, Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy, is set to launch on June 13, 2025. Amidst high demand, the only set still readily available from major retailers is the Starter Kit, which has just been restocked and is available for preorder at Amazon for $19.87. For our UK readers, you can secure it for £15.99. Given that other sets are already sold out and some individual cards are fetching over $500, it's wise to lock in your preorder now before it disappears quicker than a Chocobo.

Magic: The Gathering - Final Fantasy Starter Kit

2 Release Date: June 13, 2025. Pay nothing until dispatch. $19.87 at Amazon

The excitement for this set has been building since its announcement, and a new trailer has further amplified the anticipation. The singles market is seeing sky-high prices, with the borderless version of Cloud, Midgar Mercenary, listed at $147.23, while its Surge Foil variant commands a staggering $599, making it the priciest card in the entire Final Fantasy set.

If you've already preordered or are hunting for rare singles, there are several standout cards to watch in the coming weeks. A notable mention is the stunning borderless Kefka, Court Mage card, showcased in the new MTG teaser trailer from PAX East, illustrated by the renowned Final Fantasy artist, Yoshitaka Amano.

TCG Player is an excellent resource for a broad selection of single cards, allowing you to enhance your deck without relying on random pulls. It's also invaluable for tracking the value of your cards once the new set launches. If you manage to pull any Surge Foil cards from your booster pack preorders, you might find yourself with a significant asset. However, remember that prices fluctuate, so some cards may vary in value as the release approaches.

Other noteworthy cards to look for in booster packs or consider purchasing individually include the Cloud, Ex-Soldier Commander card, currently priced at $45.99. Its utility in equipping other creatures in play justifies its cost. The full-art version of Yuffie Kisaragi - Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow, is also a highlight, fetching just under $100 due to its rarity and classic Final Fantasy 7 art style.

Some of the most sought-after special cards are commanding high prices. Alongside the $599 Cloud card, the borderless Traveling Chocobo card costs $169.98, while the standard version is priced at a still-expensive $114.97. The Traveling Chocobo even had its own teaser trailer featuring a limited edition Gold Chocobo.

While some of the rarest cards can be costly, many singles at TCG Player are available at more affordable prices. You can pick up Sazh's Chocobo for $1.96, Tonberry for $2.49, the versatile Summon: Shiva for $1.56, or even Gladiolus Amicitia for just 33 cents.

Moreover, TCG Player is also hosting preorders for select Final Fantasy booster sets, though at prices above MSRP. There's the nine-booster Final Fantasy bundle (plus bonus cards) for $87.99 and a 30-pack Play Booster Display box for $164.99, both plus shipping. Single sealed boosters are also available for $7.99 each plus shipping.

For those preordering the Starter Kit, note that each deck is preconstructed and does not include boosters. Instead, you get one traditional foil legendary creature, five brand-new non-foil cards making their Magic debut, and 54 cards from the main set. The kit also includes four non-foil double-sided tokens, two MTG Arena code cards (one per deck), and two deck boxes, offering great value at just $20.

For new Magic: The Gathering players, the Arena code cards are particularly beneficial, allowing you to redeem both decks for online play. This feature lets you learn the game at your own pace through AI matches or competitive play.
