Krysten Ritter is set to reprise her role as Jessica Jones in the upcoming Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+. The announcement came during the Disney Upfront presentation in New York, as reported by Variety, putting an end to months of speculation about the return of Netflix's Defenders characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Ritter, alongside her co-star Charlie Cox, shared her enthusiasm about returning to the role. "It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders and now joining the MCU," she stated. "I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!"

Ritter first brought Jessica Jones to life in 2015 with the debut of Jessica Jones Season 1 on Netflix. The series continued for two more seasons, followed by her appearance in The Defenders. However, as Netflix's era of original Marvel programming came to a close, fans worried they had seen the last of Ritter's portrayal of the gritty detective.
The landscape changed in 2021 when Disney regained the rights to several Marvel characters, including Jessica Jones. Cox's return in Spider-Man: No Way Home and his starring role in Daredevil: Born Again fueled speculation that other Netflix heroes might also make a comeback. With Jon Bernthal's Punisher playing a significant role in Season 1, Ritter's return in Season 2 feels like a natural progression.
Ritter's last appearance as Jessica Jones was in Season 3, which aired in 2019. Her comments at the upfront presentation hint at further adventures for the character within the MCU. While Disney has not yet set a release date for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, showrunner Dario Scardapane has indicated that fans can look forward to new episodes in March 2026.
