Marvel Rivals Reverses Controversial Mid-Season Rank Reset
Following significant player backlash, Marvel Rivals has reversed its decision to implement mid-season rank resets. The developer announced the reversal in Dev Talk 11, a swift response to the negative reception of Dev Talk 10, which detailed plans for a four-division rank drop halfway through the season.

Player concerns centered on the demotivating effect of frequent rank resets, particularly for those striving for higher rankings. The initial plan suggested resets every 45 days. Dev Talk 11 clarifies that there will be no mid-season reset; players will retain their existing ranks and scores from the first half of the season. End-of-season resets, however, will still occur, resulting in a six-division drop.
New Heroes and Continued Updates
Despite the rank reset reversal, other planned updates remain on track. The highly anticipated addition of Human Torch and The Thing, bringing the total roster to 39 heroes, is still scheduled for release. NetEase Games continues its commitment to adding two new playable characters per three-month season.

Rewards for players reaching Gold rank and above remain unchanged. Players achieving Gold rank or higher will receive an Invisible Woman costume, while Grandmaster and above will receive Crests of Honor. Additional rewards, including costumes and Crests of Honor, will be awarded at the end of the season for reaching Gold and Grandmaster ranks, respectively. Balance adjustments are also planned, though specifics are yet to be revealed.
Community Response and Developer Acknowledgement
The rapid turnaround on the rank reset decision highlights Marvel Rivals' responsiveness to player feedback. The developer directly addressed concerns within hours of the initial announcement, emphasizing their commitment to community engagement. Marvel Rivals stated their dedication to creating the best possible game experience, directly crediting the community's input as a crucial driving force.

The mid-season update is scheduled for February 21, 2025. Marvel Rivals is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest news and updates, visit the official Marvel Rivals page.
