Nintendo has recently announced the pricing for upgrading two more games from their original Nintendo Switch versions to the enhanced Nintendo Switch 2 editions: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. These upgrades come with a higher price tag compared to previous upgrades.
While The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be upgraded for $9.99 each, NintendoLife has reported that both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree upgrades are priced at more than double that amount.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild offers improved visuals and performance, achievements, and integration with the new "Zelda Notes" service in the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Switch version can purchase an "upgrade pack" for $10 to enjoy these enhancements.
The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land introduces new story content titled "Star-Crossed World." On the other hand, Super Mario Party Jamboree's Switch 2 Edition includes "Jamboree TV," which utilizes the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, Switch 2 microphone, and the separately sold Switch 2 USB-C camera. These editions also feature upgraded resolution up to 1440p in TV mode, improved frame rates, new minigames, and enhanced online functions.
Although the U.S. prices are not yet listed on the American Nintendo eShop, possibly due to uncertainties related to President Trump's tariffs, the UK Nintendo eShop lists the Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade pack at £16.99 / €19.99, which is over twice the £7.99 / €9.99 required for upgrading Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
The Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV upgrade is similarly priced at £16.99 / €19.99, suggesting a U.S. price of $19.99. This higher upgrade cost may be influenced by the $80 price tag of both Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World and Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV. These games' original Switch versions are $20 less, at $59.99 each.
For those not upgrading, here are the prices for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games in the U.S.:
- Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World - $79.99
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $69.99
- Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - $79.99
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $79.99
It's worth noting that subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack can upgrade Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom at no additional cost. However, there are currently no such offers for upgrading Kirby or Party Jamboree.
Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders became available on April 24, with a set price of $449.99. The pre-orders have been highly sought after, and Nintendo has warned U.S. customers who pre-ordered through the My Nintendo Store that they may not receive their console on the release date due to overwhelming demand.
