Genki at CES 2025: A Closer Look at the Nintendo Switch 2 Mockup

Genki, renowned for its gaming accessories, unveiled a 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025, revealing key features and confirming several circulating rumors. Based on a reportedly black-market acquired console, the mockup accurately reflects the Switch 2's dimensions, showcasing a larger form factor reminiscent of the Steam Deck.

Key features observed include magnetic Joy-Cons, a second USB-C port, and a puzzling "C" button. Genki CEO Eddie Tsai confirmed the magnetic Joy-Con design in an interview with The Verge, explaining a mechanism involving a pin release to detach them. Despite the magnetic connection, Tsai assured that the Joy-Cons remain securely attached during gameplay.

More than Meets the Eye: Optical Sensors and Dock Compatibility

The mockup also revealed optical sensors integrated into the Joy-Con mounting channels. This suggests potential functionality as a mouse, a theory supported by recently leaked Switch 2 images. While the Switch 2 is slim enough to fit within the current Switch dock, design differences render it incompatible.

Genki remains uncertain about the function of the additional USB-C port and the mysterious "C" button.
