"Oblivion Remastered Mods Released Online"

Authore: EvelynUpdate:May 20,2025

Bethesda has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered does not feature official mod support, yet this hasn't deterred the game's dedicated fanbase from creating and sharing unofficial mods. Just hours after the surprise launch of Bethesda and Virtuos' reimagined version of Oblivion on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, a handful of community mods surfaced on the popular platform, Nexus Mods. These initial offerings, though primarily focused on minor customization, underscore the unwavering dedication of The Elder Scrolls modding community.

At the time of this article's publication, a surprising total of 22 mods were already available on the site. The first mod to emerge allowed PC players to personalize their desktops by replacing the default Oblivion Remastered shortcut with one of two images featuring the game's infamous Adoring Fan. Other mods enable players to skip the introductory Bethesda and Virtuos logo screens. Additionally, there are mods that tweak gameplay elements, such as one that modifies the Wizard's Fury spell and another that removes the in-game compass.

This early wave of mods comes despite Bethesda's announcement that Oblivion Remastered would not support official mods. This was clearly stated in the FAQ section on their website, directing players to seek mods from external sources. In response, Nexus Mods user GodschildGaming released their Iron Longsword damage mod, demonstrating that modding is still very much possible with the remastered version. "This is just to prove modding is possible," they stated in the mod's description. "Bethesda says no mod support, I say false. It really is Unreal slapped on top of Oblivion, the data folder is nested in a lot more folders but same concept."

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered was released today, marking 19 years since the original game's debut, and is available on PC and various consoles. As more players dive into the game in the coming weeks and months, the number of mods is expected to grow, offering increasingly unique ways to customize the gaming experience. While awaiting the arrival of more mods, you can explore why some players believe this release leans more towards a remake than a remaster, and the reasoning behind Bethesda's choice of the "Remastered" label.
