Overwatch 2 Unveils Exclusive Events Tailored for Chinese Players

Overwatch 2's triumphant return to China on February 19th brings a wealth of rewards and exciting events for players. The relaunch will include opportunities to earn Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 through 9, participate in popular in-game events, and experience the thrill of gameplay missed during the game's previous absence.

A technical test in early January provided a sneak peek at much of the content, including "Overwatch: Classic" and new heroes introduced since the game's departure from the Chinese market. Following the successful test, Overwatch 2's game director, Aaron Keller, announced a multi-week celebratory event on Xiaohongshu (RedNote). This event will feature many beloved in-game events and rewards. Players will be able to acquire Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before the official relaunch, with Seasons 3-9 rewards available through in-game events afterward.

Season 15: A Chinese Mythology-Inspired Celebration?

Keller hinted at the inclusion of skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology in Season 15. Whether these skins are entirely new or existing ones, and whether they will be exclusive to the Chinese market or part of a broader Season 15 theme, remains to be seen. The mystery adds to the anticipation, mirroring the successful Norse mythology theme of Season 14. With Season 15's launch scheduled for February 18th, just before the Chinese relaunch, more details are expected in early February.

Pre-Season 15 Activities:

Before the excitement of Season 15, players globally can participate in "Min 1, Max 3," a 6v6 test running from January 21st to February 4th, featuring the classic 2-2-2 team composition. The Lunar New Year and "Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic" events are also planned before Season 15. While Chinese players may miss these specific events, they can anticipate their own unique celebrations upon the game's return.
