Among the most eagerly awaited releases I covered last year, one that stands out is the upcoming Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage. The original Pirates Outlaws was a stylish, swashbuckling roguelike deckbuilder that hit the scene when the genre was still relatively fresh. Now, its sequel is set to make waves with a Q3 release this year!
This sequel, which I playfully call a "seaquel," transports you back to the adventurous waters of New Elysia for another thrilling journey across the ocean. Simply choose your character, select a class ability, and pick a starting deck to embark on your voyage!
In Pirates Outlaws 2, you'll have the freedom to choose from multiple characters, each offering seven class options. You can customize your deck and even recruit an animal companion, adding strategic depth to your battles. With enhanced turn-based combat, a new card evolution tree, and more, you'll have a vast arsenal of tools to conquer the high seas!

Pirates Outlaws 2 promises to be a significantly expanded sequel, allowing you to roam freely across the map and explore even more permutations and combinations of cards and characters. For those on PC, an upcoming Steam demo will be your first opportunity to get your hands on Pirates Outlaws 2!
My only concern arises from the animations shown in the reveal trailer, which appear somewhat static to me. While fully animating these illustrations is a challenge, I'm hopeful that the final release will feature more dynamic effects when it arrives on mobile later this year.
