Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at its May Unpacked event, introducing a sleek new addition to its flagship lineup. While the Galaxy S25 Edge shares many similarities with the earlier 2025 release of the Galaxy S25, its standout feature is its remarkably thinner design, aptly named the "Edge."
In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge closely mirrors the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, utilizing the same powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and boasting a high-resolution 200MP camera. The primary distinction lies in the chassis, which has been impressively slimmed down to a mere 5.8mm in thickness, compared to the 8.2mm of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This reduction in thickness also results in a lighter weight of just 163g, making the phone easier to handle.
Despite its slim profile, the Galaxy S25 Edge maintains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display as the Samsung Galaxy S25, despite the latter being essentially identical in specs to the slightly larger 6.9-inch Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Given its thin and expansive design, durability is a significant concern for the Galaxy S25 Edge. Samsung has addressed this by incorporating the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which claims to offer enhanced durability over the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 found in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, the real test will be how the phone withstands everyday pressures, such as being sat on in a pocket, rather than just surviving drops. The question remains whether this can prevent a potential "bendgate" scenario.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge also comes equipped with the suite of "Mobile AI" tools that were introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 and further refined in 2025. Thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, many AI functions can be processed locally on the device, enhancing privacy. However, numerous AI applications will still rely on cloud computing. Among the innovative features, Samsung offers tools that can summarize notifications and news articles at a glance, adding convenience for users.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is now available for preorder, starting at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB model. It is offered in three stylish color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.
Samsung is keen to emphasize the durability of this slender device. Only time will tell if their claims hold up in real-world use.
