World of Warcraft Delays Plunderstorm Launch

WoW's Plunderstorm Event Delayed

The highly anticipated return of World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm event has been postponed due to unforeseen technical difficulties. While initially slated for January 14th, 2025, Blizzard has not yet provided a revised launch time.

Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was set to return with both original and new rewards. However, unexpected issues arose during the planned server maintenance, resulting in a delay beyond the initially extended eight-hour downtime.

Current Status:

  • Launch Date: Before the end of January 14th, 2025 (pending resolution of unforeseen issues). No specific time has been announced.
  • Server Status: World of Warcraft's regular servers are now online.

Players awaiting Plunderstorm can still enjoy other in-game content, such as Siren Isle weeklies and the Turbulent Timeways event.

The delay may be related to new features added for this iteration of Plunderstorm, such as the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface.

Despite the delay, the Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are active. Viewers can earn the Coward's Azure Target transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch stream before February 4th at 10 AM PST. The streamer does not need to be playing Plunderstorm.
