In Arab countries, particularly in the Levant, Tarneeb is a popular card game known for its engaging gameplay. Referred to as "rule" in the Arab Gulf states, Tarneeb is played with the aim of winning consecutive rounds. The game involves four players divided into two teams, with partners sitting opposite each other. The teams compete until the end of the rounds, after which the winner is declared.

Tarneeb uses a standard 52-card deck without jokers. The game begins with the dealer distributing cards starting from the player to their right. Bidding starts from the player to the left of the dealer and continues clockwise. Players bid on the number of tricks they believe they can win, starting from a minimum of 7 up to a maximum of 13, known as "Cabot" or "livers." The highest bidder selects the trump suit, known as Tarneeb.

If a team fails to meet their bid, they are penalized. For instance, if a team bids for 10 tricks but only secures 9, they receive a negative score for the difference, while the opposing team scores points for the tricks they won. In this example, if the opposing team wins 5 tricks, they receive points for those, and the bidding team loses points for the unfulfilled bid.

The game concludes when one team reaches either 61 or 31 points, depending on the agreement set before the game begins. The card rankings in Tarneeb are as follows: Ace (Cut), King (Sheikh), Queen (girl), Jack (born), followed by 10 down to 2.
