What Recharge Drones Do
In *R.E.P.O.*, not all items are created equal. While some, like Mines and Grenades, are one-and-done, others boast a rechargeable "battery life" that can be restored using Energy Crystals. Early in the game, you'll spot a container-like object in your truck, which is pivotal for charging your weapons or drones, albeit at the cost of an Energy Crystal. When you buy additional Energy Crystals, they seamlessly integrate into the container, eliminating any worry about their disappearance post-purchase. To recharge an item, simply place it in the yellow bucket beside the container, allowing it to regain its vigor. This process is crucial for maintaining your gear in prime condition, readying you to face the next wave of horrors and levels.
However, the intensity of some levels can accelerate item deterioration, especially with frequent use. While you can recharge your items using Energy Crystals at various locations, the proximity to your truck isn't always guaranteed. This is where the Recharge Drone becomes an invaluable ally, enabling on-the-go energy management for your items.
How to Get and Use the Recharge Drone in R.E.P.O.
The Recharge Drone, like other items and upgrades, can be found at the Service Station, which you reach after triumphantly completing a level. This station is your go-to spot for stocking up on essentials that can simplify your next adventure—provided you have the funds.
Keep in mind that items at the Service Station appear at random, so it may take several visits before the Recharge Drone makes its appearance. Once it does, expect to spend between $4-5K to acquire this handy cube, which will occupy one of your inventory slots. You can then assign it to slot 1, 2, or 3 after purchase.
You'll notice your items wearing down by monitoring the battery bar beneath them. When it's time to rejuvenate an item, select the Recharge Drone, activate it with the 'E' key as usual, and then attach the depleted item. Let the drone work its magic. Should the drone itself run out of power, it can be recharged at your truck using Energy Crystals through the container.
