Chibi-Robo! Heads to Nintendo Switch Online GameCube

Authore: PeytonUpdate:Mar 04,2026

Chibi-Robo! is the latest GameCube classic confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2's Nintendo Switch Online library, arriving as early as next week.

While the charming platformer's eventual arrival was already noted in Nintendo's eShop summary, the company has now announced a specific date: August 21, 2025. It will be the second title added to the service since the Switch 2's June launch, following Super Mario Strikers (also known as Mario Smash Football in Europe).

Nintendo Switch Online is a subscription service for the Nintendo Switch platform. Members gain access to online multiplayer for supported games, enabling competition and cooperation with friends. The subscription also includes a growing library of classic Nintendo titles from systems like the NES, SNES, Game Boy, Nintendo 64, and the newly added GameCube collection. A complimentary seven-day trial is offered.

The current GameCube library features games such as The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, Soulcalibur II, and Super Mario Strikers. Anticipated future additions include Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, among others. For an enhanced retro experience, a replica GameCube controller is also available.

We praised Chibi-Robo! upon its original 2006 release, granting it an IGN Editor's Choice award and a score of 8.2/10, encouraging players to "Give [it] a chance."

"Many may overlook this game, dismissing it as too quirky or too cute," we noted in our IGN review of Chibi-Robo!. "While it is both, it is also a thoroughly enjoyable, fun, and rewarding puzzle-platformer."

Regarding the Nintendo Switch 2, the console is seeing a robust start with 3.5 million units sold. However, an analysis of its launch week software sales reveals a mixed performance for titles not developed by Nintendo.
