"Hollow Knight: Silksong Sprite Sheet Sparks Curiosity About Hornet's Cloak Removal"

Yesterday, IGN unveiled that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable at an Australian museum in September 2025 and shared an exclusive sprite sheet from the much-anticipated game, sparking a frenzy online.

A Reddit thread quickly emerged to dissect the sheet, with one user questioning the necessity of a sprite depicting Hornet without her cloak: "In what situation [is] making a sprite of naked Hornet necessary?" Among the numerous sprites of Silksong's protagonist, Hornet, which showcased her in various combat and relaxed poses, there was one particularly notable image where she is casually carrying her cloak under one arm. This image, visible on the right-hand side of the original sheet, immediately below the topmost ring, drew significant attention and debate.

One user humorously remarked, "What kind of situation in-game calls for her to remove her cloak and hold it like she's an exhausted dad returning from work? This is cursed." Another expressed disbelief, "Is this real???? There’s no way this is a sprite that is going to be in Silksong. Is that just what she looks like????" while a third demanded, "IN WHAT KIND OF SITUATION WOULD THEY EVEN NEED THIS SPRITE?"

The conversation soon took a more playful turn with comments like, "So, we don't have to bother making a mod," and "We're going straight to ESRB 18+ for this one." Some users were more critical, with one saying, "HORNET PUT YOUR CLOAK BACK ON THAT'S SO INDECENT WHAT THE HELL," and another agreeing, "This looks so wrong," and "this is completely unnecessary." Another simply stated, "I do not like this."

Despite the uproar, a plausible explanation could be that players will have the option to upgrade or change Hornet's cloak in the game. Until then, fans are free to let their imaginations run wild.
