Switch 2 Super Mario Kart World Bundle

Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle

$499.99 at Best Buy

Opting for the Switch 2 bundle with Super Mario Kart World saves you $30 compared to buying the console and game separately. Keep in mind that the bundle includes a digital copy, so you won't receive a physical game cart or box. If the physical copy is important to you, consider the extra $30 well spent and proceed with your preorder.

Yes, the MSRP Is $79.99

When purchased alone, Mario Kart World is priced at $79.99, a $10 increase over the standard price of AAA titles for PlayStation and Xbox this generation. While price increases between console generations are never welcomed, it's understandable given the rising costs of game development. I'm hopeful that the scale and features of Mario Kart World justify the higher price point.

What Is Mario Kart World?

Play

Mario Kart World is set to be the most expansive entry in the Mario Kart series, offering an open-world experience reminiscent of the Forza Horizon series. In Grand Prix mode, you can seamlessly transition from the end of one track to the start of another after completing a race.

The game's tracks are dynamically affected by weather and time of day, impacting visibility and vehicle handling. You're not confined to the tracks either; you can explore "virtually everywhere" in the world, according to Nintendo. Each race accommodates 24 drivers, surpassing the participant count of any previous Mario Kart game.

A new mode, Knockout Tour, challenges you to race across the open world, navigating through checkpoints with specific placement requirements. Fail to meet the placement, and you're out of the race.

For a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode allows you to drive anywhere, team up with friends, and capture memorable moments with in-game photography.

Stay tuned for more details during the Nintendo Direct on April 17. In the meantime, check out our hands-on preview of Mario Kart World for additional insights.
