After initially revealing it in May, the fantasy sandbox MMORPG Albion Online has now officially launched its highly anticipated Abyssal Depths update. Sandbox Interactive has introduced a fresh play mode into this world of swords and sorcery.
What Does the Abyssal Depths Update Add to Albion Online?
The update's name, Depths, is a fitting one as it introduces a new dungeon type concealed within ancient, demon-infested aqueducts. This confined underground maze pits teams of two or three players against both monsters and other adventurers.
While in the Depths, you'll spend a variable amount of time gathering Souls and accumulating buffs the further you descend. If you are defeated, you'll only lose your inventory items, keeping your primary gear safe. The dungeon's final stage contains a secured Treasure Vault.
A unique feature of the Depths is the Antiquarian’s Den. This grim underground hub can be reached from any Royal City or Caerleon. It serves as a starting point for entering the Depths, Hellgates, and Corrupted Dungeons.
The Antiquarian Standing system centers around the Antiquarian, a mysterious figure who manages the Den. This system also introduces two new spider-like creatures named the Hellspinner and the Soulspinner.
An Abundance of New Content to Discover
The Abyssal Depths update also adds two new Crystal Weapons to Albion Online. These are the Truebolt Hammer and the Stillgaze Staff. The hammer allows you to crush foes with shocking power while providing a protective shield to nearby allies. The staff, on the other hand, enables you to transform into a Crystal Cobra.
Finally, a new Character Progression section has been added to the Journal. It links with the Destiny Board, presenting players with milestones, long-term achievements, and exclusive rewards.
