Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel
To commemorate NieR's 15th Anniversary, Square Enix has announced a slew of new projects and events. During the livestream on April 19, they introduced the online Special Novel titled [U]ndecided Option. This novel will be released in three parts, with the first part already accessible. The subsequent updates are scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The novel's intriguing synopsis teases, "Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided."
Alongside the novel announcement, Square Enix also launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, which will serve as the main hub for the online special novel and other upcoming projects and events related to the anniversary celebration.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More
Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork featuring the protagonists from NieR: Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Details on tickets and other specifics will be revealed soon.
For fans of the music, additional performances of the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 are scheduled in Osaka on July 25 and 26, and in Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are available through a lottery system, with more information accessible on the concert's official website.
A variety of new merchandise has also been unveiled, including a jazz album from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set for release in December 2024, the comprehensive NieR Weapon Story book featuring over 650 weapon narratives from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, and scale figures of the NieR series protagonists.
Re[in]carnation Developer Blog
NieR Re[in]carnation, the franchise's first mobile title, will launch a monthly developer blog starting April 28. These updates will continue throughout the year, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the development of Re[in]carnation.
Originally launched in January 2021, the game was unfortunately discontinued in April 2024 due to monetization challenges. The announcement of a developer blog for a closed game has sparked speculation among fans, with many wondering if it hints at a potential sequel or remake. However, Square Enix has yet to confirm any such plans.
