Pokémon TCG Pocket Update: Trading Feature Arrives in Autumn

Authore: MaxUpdate:Apr 04,2025

The launch of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket was met with enthusiasm, but it quickly faced challenges with its trading system. Initially, the feature disappointed many due to the cumbersome process involving hard-to-obtain Trade Tokens and restrictive trading conditions. However, a new update aims to overhaul this system entirely.

The most significant change is the complete removal of Trade Tokens. Now, trading cards of three-diamond, four-diamond, and one-star rarity will require Shinedust, a new currency you'll earn by opening booster packs and receiving cards already registered in your Card Dex. If you have existing Trade Tokens, don't worry—they can be converted into Shinedust. This new currency isn't just for trading; it's also essential for acquiring flair, and further updates to Shinedust are on the horizon. Additionally, an upcoming feature will allow you to share cards you're interested in trading directly within the game.

As previously discussed, the initial implementation of trading in Pokémon TCG Pocket felt half-hearted. The digital nature of the game necessitates more restrictions than physical trading to prevent abuse, which has been a significant hurdle. While these changes are a step in the right direction, they won't be implemented until autumn at the earliest, leaving players waiting through the spring and summer. This slow pace of addressing the issues has left many fans wishing for quicker action from the development team.
