Rockstar Releases Bully Anniversary Update After Six Years

Rockstar Games, the creative force behind the iconic GTA franchise, has officially released a new Anniversary Edition update for Bully on mobile platforms. This marks the first major update in over six years—finally bringing some long-awaited attention to one of Rockstar’s cult classic titles. The update is currently available exclusively for mobile devices and does not extend to PC or console versions.

Rockstar Hasn’t Forgotten Bullworth Academy!

The Bully: Anniversary Edition introduces several quality-of-life improvements, including support for additional languages and a strong focus on stability enhancements and bug fixes. Among the changes, Rockstar has temporarily disabled Friends Challenges, likely to address underlying issues.

For Android users with compatible hardware, Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) has been enabled, offering improved visual depth and realism. The update also features a refreshed app icon and added haptic feedback across both iOS and Android platforms for a more immersive experience.

Long-standing mission bugs have finally been addressed. Missions like ‘That Bitch’, where Mandy’s locker was unreasonably difficult to pick, and ‘Weed Killer’, which could softlock if the window was broken too early, are now functioning as intended. Additionally, graphical glitches involving police cars falling through the floor during ‘The Rumble’ have been corrected.

Other gameplay inconsistencies, such as enemies refusing to attack Jimmy—leading to awkwardly one-sided fights—have also been resolved. The patch further tackles crashes that occurred when starting a new game or loading a save from the pause menu, making the overall experience much smoother.

What Are Players Saying About Bully: Anniversary Edition?

Fans have been calling for a sequel, Bully 2, for well over a decade. However, it seems Rockstar has prioritized other projects since the original title's release. While rumors suggest a sequel was in development during the 2010s, it was ultimately shelved in favor of Red Dead Redemption 2 and the continued success of GTA Online.

With GTA 6 currently in development and many key members from the original Bully team having left Rockstar, hopes for a sequel remain slim. That said, this Anniversary Edition—while not a full remaster or sequel—offers mobile players a meaningful and welcome upgrade.

If you’ve never experienced Bully before, it serves as Rockstar’s unique take on the schoolyard sandbox genre. You step into the shoes of Jimmy Hopkins, a defiant 15-year-old navigating life at Bullworth Academy. Packed with classic Rockstar humor, open-world exploration, and plenty of mischief, it remains a standout entry in the studio’s portfolio.
