Ryan Reynolds Eyes Early Development of Deadpool and X-Men Film

Authore: ElijahUpdate:May 27,2025

Ryan Reynolds is reportedly in the "early stages" of developing a new film that would bring Deadpool together with the X-Men, but with a twist. According to THR, Reynolds envisions an ensemble movie where Deadpool would not be the central figure. Instead, he would share the screen with three or four other X-Men characters, allowing them to take the spotlight and be "used in unexpected ways." This project would stand apart from the X-Men film being developed by Hunger Games writer Michael Lesslie and is reminiscent of the early stages of Deadpool & Wolverine, which initially was conceived as a low-budget road trip movie.

Reynolds is known for refining his ideas independently before presenting them to Marvel, and this ensemble concept is not entirely new. However, this report provides fresh insight into the potential adventures Deadpool might embark on with his mutant teammates. While the specific X-Men characters that could join Deadpool remain a mystery, the Merc With a Mouth has a history of collaborating with various members of the team and their adversaries in previous films, including Wolverine, Colossus, Sabertooth, Pyro, and even Channing Tatum's Gambit.
