Silent Hill f Steam Deck Compatible, But Not Quite Verified

Silent Hill f is set to be playable on the Steam Deck, though it will require some tweaking to achieve optimal performance. Dive into the details of Valve's Steam Deck classification for Silent Hill f and explore the game's PC requirements.

Silent Hill f Official Testing Results For Steam Deck Released

Playable But Requires Configuration

Silent Hill f Steam Deck Compatible, But Not Quite Verified

Valve's official testing confirms that Silent Hill f can be played on the Steam Deck. However, the game falls short of the "verified" status because it requires some manual adjustments to run smoothly on the handheld. For a game to earn the "verified" badge, it must seamlessly integrate with the Steam Deck's controls and display, passing Valve's stringent tests for input, display, seamlessness, and system support.

Silent Hill f operates with all functionalities accessible using the default controller configuration and displays the appropriate Steam Deck controller icons. Yet, some in-game text may appear too small, potentially causing readability issues. Manual configuration is necessary to ensure a satisfactory performance on the Steam Deck.

This is a significant step forward compared to the Silent Hill 2 Remake, which was initially unsupported on the Steam Deck despite subsequent patches aimed at enhancing its compatibility. Konami has not yet disclosed an official release date for Silent Hill f, leaving room for further optimization by the developers.

PC System Requirements

Konami unveiled the PC system requirements for Silent Hill f last month on its Steam store page, providing insights into how the game might perform on the Steam Deck. Below are the detailed minimum and recommended specifications:

For the minimum requirements, an NVIDIA GTX 1070 is needed to run the game at 720p with 30fps on Performance Quality settings. Given the Steam Deck's GPU capabilities, players might experience a slight downgrade from these minimum specs. While running at 720p on the Steam Deck might not be a significant issue, connecting the device to an HD TV could highlight these differences. Konami also recommends using an SSD.

The recommended specs allow players to choose between Performance settings at 60fps or Quality settings at 30fps, both requiring an SSD.

Silent Hill f is currently available for wishlisting on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
