Theory 1: A Bungie Spin-off: Following Bungie layoffs in July 2024, a significant number of employees transitioned to Sony Interactive Entertainment. It's possible this new studio houses a team working on a previously announced "Gummybears" incubation project from Bungie.
Theory 2: The Jason Blundell Team: Industry veteran Jason Blundell, known for his work on Call of Duty: Black Ops, co-founded Deviation Games, which was developing a AAA PS5 title before its closure in March 2024. Many former Deviation Games employees subsequently joined PlayStation, leading to speculation that Blundell's team now forms the core of this new Los Angeles studio.
