Square Enix recently confirmed via a new social media post—complete with captivating images—that Kingdom Hearts 4 remains very much in development. This announcement comes shortly after the studio revealed the cancellation of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, a mobile-based GPS action-RPG that failed to meet expectations for long-term satisfaction.

In their latest message, Square Enix reassured Kingdom Hearts fans that significant progress is being made on Kingdom Hearts 4. The studio expressed its commitment to delivering an unforgettable gaming experience. "We’re currently working hard on Kingdom Hearts 4 and will continue pouring ourselves into the game’s development. We’re dedicated to making this an experience that lives up to your expectations!" the post read, accompanied by a collage showcasing glimpses of beloved characters, cinematic scenes, exhilarating combat moments, thrilling platforming sequences, and even a menacing boss encounter.

The images shared hint at what lies ahead, offering tantalizing peeks at both storytelling and gameplay elements fans can look forward to. For those eager to explore more, the visual tour continues in the attached slideshow.

Square Enix also acknowledged the excitement surrounding the series and extended gratitude to supporters worldwide. "We’ve seen how excited you are, and we are truly grateful from the bottom of our hearts," the second post stated. "We are equally excited and can’t wait to share more about Kingdom Hearts IV when the time is right. Until then, we appreciate your patience. Thank you for your continued support."

This marks the first substantial update regarding the eagerly awaited sequel since a cryptic teaser in January. Prior to this, despite unveiling a full cinematic trailer in September 2022, Square Enix had maintained silence on the project.

Series director Tetsuya Nomura has previously indicated that Kingdom Hearts 4 will mark a pivotal chapter in the saga’s journey, signaling the beginning of its conclusion after over two decades and across 18 titles.

Meanwhile, the canceled Missing-Link project saw Square Enix apologizing to its fans while explaining that the decision was made due to challenges in providing lasting satisfaction throughout the game's lifecycle.
