Updates Every 3 Months

GSC Gameworld has committed to delivering updates every three months for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. On April 14, STALKER’s official Twitter (X) account shared the roadmap for Q2 2025, outlining the developers' plans to enhance the game continually.

The roadmap will be broken down into quarterly segments, with patch notes released to confirm the implementation of planned updates. Following the Q1 updates that addressed significant issues and introduced multiple hotfixes, GSC Gameworld is poised to continue refining the game based on player feedback. Here's a comprehensive list of what fans can anticipate:

  • Beta Mod SDK Kit
  • A-Life/AI Updates
  • Mutant Loot
  • Shader Compilation Skip
  • Player Stash Window Increase

GSC Gameworld has outlined two major focuses for the upcoming updates: the Beta Mod SDK Kit and further enhancements to the A-Life system. They plan to launch a closed beta with mod makers to test the ModKit before its official release. This initiative aims to integrate platforms like Mod.io and Steam Workshop, fostering a vibrant modding community.

The A-Life system, a cornerstone of STALKER 2’s immersive world, will see continuous improvements to enhance NPC AI and simulation. Building on last year's efforts, which included a massive 110 GB update for the Christmas patch, the developers are set to introduce "persistent A-Life improvements" and "smarter human combat," including better use of cover, flanking, and limited grenade usage.

In addition to the A-Life system, mutants will receive updates to enhance their behavior, including consuming corpses and reacting more realistically to threats. Other planned updates include the introduction of mutant loot, the ability to skip shader compilation, an increase in the player stash window size, support for wide screen aspect ratios, two new unspecified weapons, and continued efforts in stabilization, optimization, and fixing "anomalies."

As an added bonus, fans of the original STALKER trilogy can look forward to a next-gen update, with more details to be revealed as the release date approaches.
