The highly anticipated story expansion for *Star Wars Outlaws*, titled "A Pirate's Fortune," has just been released on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, and it's all thanks to the beloved character Hondo Ohnaka. This Weequay pirate, previously featured in the Darth Maul comics and the *Star Wars: The Clone Wars* animated TV show, has captured the hearts of the development team at Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment.
According to Creative Director Drew Rechner, the inspiration for the DLC stemmed from the team's passion for Hondo Ohnaka. "We always knew because there were so many passionate people on the team that we needed to feature Hondo. And, you know, that scoundrel fantasy of Kay mixing with the pirate fantasy of Hondo, it just kind of makes sense, right?" Rechner shared in an interview with IGN. The expansion explores the dynamic between protagonist Kay and Hondo, delving into themes of leadership and mentorship, with a twist that keeps players guessing about Hondo's true intentions.
The "A Pirate's Fortune" DLC introduces a thrilling new adventure involving the Rokana Raiders crime gang and the Miyuki Trade League, the latter of which can provide Kay with upgrades for her Trailblazer ship. Players can also enjoy a new blaster capability called Shock, adding fresh gameplay mechanics to the mix.
In addition to the current platforms, *Star Wars Outlaws* is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4. While Rechner remained tight-lipped about specific new features for this platform, he hinted at more information to be revealed later. "In terms of a specific feature set, that's something that we will get into later. So we'll have more stuff to talk about later," he teased. Potential enhancements for the Switch 2 could include innovative controller functionalities and a new GameChat capability.
