SNK Games, the renowned Japanese developer behind iconic fighting titles, has withdrawn several major games from Google Play. While these games are getting delisted from the platform, they remain available on other app marketplaces like Apple's App Store for mobile players.
With an impressive portfolio spanning classic arcade and fighting games, SNK is responsible for legendary franchises like The King of Fighters and Metal Slug. However, Android gamers now face reduced access to these retro gaming classics.
Which SNK Games Are Being Delisted?
As of June 30th, 2025, SNK removed multiple fan-favorite titles from Google Play. The affected fighting games include Fatal Fury Special, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, The King of Fighters '97, The King of Fighters '98, and Samurai Shodown 2.
The removal also impacted several side-scrolling shooters and action games, with Blazing Star, Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, and Metal Slug X being pulled from the store. Notably, Metal Slug 3 was previously removed on June 2nd, 2025, due to compatibility issues with newer Android versions and devices. This particular title originally launched on Android way back in July 2012.
Existing owners will retain access to these games if already installed, though new downloads or reinstalls on other devices will no longer be possible.
Understanding the Delisting Decision
While SNK hasn't provided an official explanation for removing these titles, the company continues actively developing and releasing new content for Android. The studio has been working on refreshed versions of its classic games.
Looking to the future, SNK will introduce Ken Masters from Street Fighter as an early playable character during Evo 2025. Several popular SNK titles still remain available on Google Play, including various Metal Slug and ACA NeoGeo collaborative releases.
