Starfield PS5 Release Rumors Sparked by Logo Appearance

Authore: BlakeUpdate:May 13,2025

Speculation about Starfield coming to PlayStation 5 intensified over the weekend when fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda's official Creations website. The logo was linked to a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield, which was subsequently removed. This has led fans to believe that Bethesda's sci-fi game, currently exclusive to PC and Xbox, might soon be available on PS5.

They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

The discovery has sparked discussions about potential new content updates or expansions for Starfield, especially given the game's anticipated release on PS5. Following the lukewarm reception of the Shattered Space expansion, Bethesda has been relatively quiet about Starfield. However, Microsoft, Bethesda's parent company, is expected to host a summer showcase this year, which could be the perfect platform to unveil more about Starfield's future.

Bethesda has hinted at "exciting things" planned for Starfield in 2024, amidst growing player discontent over communication and updates. In June 2024, Bethesda reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Starfield and announced at least one more story expansion following Shattered Space. In an interview with the YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard expressed the studio's goal to release an annual story expansion for Starfield "for hopefully a very long time."

Starfield was launched in September 2023, marking Bethesda's first new intellectual property in years and its first mainline single-player game since Microsoft's acquisition of parent company ZeniMax Media in March 2021. IGN's review of Starfield gave it a 7/10, stating: "Starfield has a lot of forces working against it, but eventually the allure of its expansive roleplaying quests and respectable combat make its gravitational pull difficult to resist."

In January, Microsoft's gaming boss Phil Spencer did not rule out the possibility of Starfield coming to PS5. Reports from March 2024 suggested that both Starfield and MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were being considered for PS5. While Indiana Jones was confirmed for PS5 with a spring 2025 release window, Starfield has yet to be officially announced for the platform, though Spencer's comments have kept the speculation alive.

Several Xbox games are already available on PS5, including Rare's Sea of Thieves, Tango Gameworks' Hi-Fi Rush, and Obsidian's Grounded and Pentiment. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft on PlayStation consoles and plans to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 later this year. Additionally, Playground's Forza Horizon 5 is set to come to PS5 soon. There are even rumors that Microsoft might finally bring Halo to PlayStation after decades of exclusivity.

Phil Spencer has explained that Xbox's multiplatform strategy is partly driven by the need to increase revenue for Microsoft's gaming division, especially after the massive $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. In an interview from August last year, Spencer emphasized the business aspect of their operations, stating, "We run a business. It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. Because we get a level of support from the company that’s just amazing and what we’re able to go do. So I look at this, how can we make our games as strong as possible? Our platform continues to grow, on console, on PC, and on cloud. It’s just going to be a strategy that works for us."

Bethesda Game Studios, with its 450-person team, is currently managing five projects: Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile games, and external development partnerships. This busy schedule underscores the studio's commitment to delivering quality content across multiple platforms.
