Slaying monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds is exhilarating, but mastering the art of trapping is crucial for acquiring all those valuable monster parts needed for crafting superior armor. This requires specific materials – Trap Tools. Here's how to obtain them.

While Monster Hunter Wilds doesn't explicitly guide you on trapping or acquiring Trap Tools, veterans of the series will find this familiar.
Your primary source for Trap Tools is the Provisions Stockpiler NPC at your Base Camp. Simply speak to him, browse his inventory, and purchase Trap Tools for 200 Zenny each. Stocking up is recommended, especially for dedicated monster farming or completionists aiming to capture every creature.
Currently, purchasing from the Base Camp is the only method to acquire Trap Tools; they aren't found in the wild like other resources.
How to Use Trap Tools
With Trap Tools in hand, it's time to strategize. Combine them with a Net (using Spiderweb or Ivy) to create a Pitfall Trap, or with a Thunderbug Capacitor to craft a Shock Trap.
Both trap types are effective, but remember that certain monsters are immune to specific traps. For example, a Shock Trap is useless against Rey Dau, a lightning dragon, naturally resistant to electrical shocks. In such cases, opt for the Pitfall Trap.
Also, note that you can only carry one trap at a time. Use them wisely when the monster is vulnerable.
