A new trailer for the highly anticipated TV series, Alien: Earth, has surfaced online, giving fans an exciting glimpse into what promises to be a thrilling addition to the Alien franchise. The trailer, which was originally unveiled at Disney's 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, was shared on the @CineGeekNews X/Twitter account. It depicts the harrowing journey of survivors aboard a spacecraft ravaged by a Xenomorph, hurtling towards Earth.

The trailer showcases an updated Xenomorph design but is most notable for its striking similarity to the aesthetic of Ridley Scott’s groundbreaking 1979 horror film, Alien. The setting within the MU/TH/UR control room is eerily reminiscent of the Nostromo, where Ripley uncovered the dire reality facing her crew.
In the trailer, we see a desperate crew member pleading for help while trapped behind a sealed door, as the Xenomorph closes in. The character Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay, appears indifferent to her fate, announcing that the "specimens are loose" and declaring the crew dead before setting the ship's course towards Earth. Subsequently, we witness six soldiers cautiously advancing, likely towards the crash site. Given the nature of the Alien series, their mission is unlikely to end well.
The trailer raises numerous intriguing questions: Will Morrow survive? What drives his actions? Are there any other survivors? Has anyone been impregnated by the Xenomorph? And how will the soldiers meet their demise?
These elements set the stage for Alien: Earth, which follows a mysterious spacecraft crashing on Earth. A young woman, played by Sydney Chandler, along with a group of tactical soldiers, make a "fateful discovery" that leads them directly into the path of Earth's most formidable threat.
FX's Alien series is set in 2120, positioned chronologically after Prometheus and just two years before the events of Alien and the ill-fated journey of the Nostromo's crew. This placement within the Alien timeline has led fans to speculate that Alien: Earth might show the Nostromo departing Earth or how the nefarious Weyland-Yutani Corporation first learned of the Xenomorphs. Notably, the recently released interquel Alien: Romulus takes place between Alien and Aliens.
In January of the previous year, showrunner Noah Hawley discussed his decision not to use the backstory from Prometheus in Alien: Earth. He expressed a preference for the "retro-futurism" seen in the original films. Hawley consulted with Ridley Scott on various aspects of the Alien series, including its connections to the prequels, but ultimately chose to diverge from the bioweapon narrative to stay true to the lore of the earlier movies.
FX's Alien: Earth is slated to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025. Additionally, Alien: Romulus 2 is also in development, continuing to expand the rich universe of the Alien saga.
