Revue Starlight Re LIVE is officially shutting down. The mobile game, based on the popular anime, will cease operations on September 30th, 2024, at 07:00 UTC, ending nearly six years of service.
Why the Shutdown?
While initially a promising extension of the Revue Starlight anime, Revue Starlight Re LIVE's performance ultimately faltered. Factors contributing to its closure include repetitive events, reused assets, and costly battle passes. Unpopular plot developments, such as the abrupt character shift from The Giraffe, also negatively impacted the game's reception. The shutdown affects the game globally, including Japan.
Positive Aspects
Despite its shortcomings, the game boasted a strong soundtrack featuring music from the anime, along with visually appealing 3D graphics and Live2D animations.
A Final Farewell?
Although the game's lifespan is nearing its end, players still have a few weeks to enjoy remaining content. Developers are launching several events in August and September, including a "Thank You For Everything" campaign offering ten free pulls daily and a two-month birthday celebration featuring two "New Stage Girl Gacha" events.
