Top Spring 2025 Anime Dub Recommendations

Among this season's major releases, like the third season of Fire Force and the My Hero Academia spinoff Vigilantes, The Apothecary Diaries is our top pick if your time is limited. It's rare to find shonen or seinen shows that aren't heavily action-focused or grim, making this historical mystery series a delightful standout. It follows a young apothecary who solves medical puzzles in a fictional Chinese Imperial court. Its recent addition to Netflix, where anime often finds a wider audience, underscores its well-deserved popularity.

Don't be put off by the main character's name in Once Upon A Witch’s Death; Meg Raspberry is a teenage witch cursed to die one year after her seventeenth birthday. To break the curse, her teacher, the Eternal Witch Faust, tasks her with collecting a thousand tears of joy. Yes, it's a literal tearjerker. With its unique premise, Ghibli-inspired art, and a strangely stylish owl familiar, this series looks like a real treat.

Fans of Solo Leveling might enjoy The Beginning After The End, an adaptation of a popular webtoon. In a classic rebirth story, Arthur Leywin is a young boy with magical abilities who possesses the memories of a deceased, ruthless king. While building a new life with friends in the fantasy world of Dicathen, he finds himself pulled back into the conflicts of his past. Think of it as an isekai twist on The Boss Baby.

Chinese animation, or donghua, has been gaining international traction, particularly in the Boys Love genre. To Be Hero X is a shonen series with one of the season's most dynamic trailers. It blends 2D and 3D animation with a style reminiscent of Spider-Verse and Studio TRIGGER, especially fitting since the plot involves using clothing as weaponry, similar to Kill La Kill. Directed by Li Haolin of Link Click fame and scored by the renowned Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan), To Be Hero X follows its predecessors and will stream on Netflix, Prime Video, and Crunchyroll.

Lastly, the WITCH WATCH anime has been highly anticipated from the Shonen Jump roster. It centers on Nico, a young witch, and Morihito, an ogre assigned as her familiar/guardian due to a pact between their families. After moving in together, Morihito's job is to keep her powers secret, but Nico is more interested in romance and fun. It's essentially a magical girl take on the odd-couple dynamic. Following a theatrical preview, WITCH WATCH will stream on Netflix, Hulu, and Crunchyroll.
