Charlie Cox's successful transition from Netflix's Daredevil to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has sparked speculation about potential comebacks for other members of The Defenders. Notably, Finn Jones, who portrayed Iron Fist in the Netflix series, has expressed his eagerness to return to the role. Jones, who last played Danny Rand in 2018 during Season 2 of Iron Fist and in The Defenders, is keen to prove himself despite the mixed reception his character received from fans.
The Defenders series brought together Danny Rand with Matt Murdock (Daredevil), Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones, creating a unique team dynamic. While Jones' portrayal of Iron Fist faced criticism, the successful reintegration of Daredevil into the MCU has renewed hope for the revival of other Defenders. Recent reports suggest Marvel is "exploring" the possibility of bringing back The Defenders, adding to the anticipation.
At the LaConve anime convention in Monterrey, NL, Mexico, Jones addressed the critiques of his Iron Fist character directly. He acknowledged the fans' mixed feelings about his performance and expressed his determination to improve. "There is a willingness for the fans to see that happen," Jones stated, referring to his potential return. "There's a lot of willingness for the fans to see that not happen as well. I'm very aware of the critiques of the character and my role in it. My response to that is like, give me a f***ing chance, man. I'm here and I'm ready. I want to prove people wrong. So I would love to see that happen."
Daredevil: Born Again continues the story from the Netflix series, confirming that the Netflix shows are now part of the official MCU canon on Disney+. This integration also includes Jon Bernthal's Punisher, who appears alongside Daredevil in the new series. With these developments, the possibility of seeing other Defenders characters like Iron Fist making a comeback seems more plausible than ever.
