Introduced in the *Minecraft* 1.20.5 "Armored Paws" update, the Armadillo is a passive mob found in various warm biomes. This creature, adorned with protective "Scutes," plays a crucial role in crafting the innovative Wolf Armor. Here's how you can collect Armadillo Scutes in *Minecraft*:
How to Get Armadillo Scutes in Minecraft
Armadillos roam exclusively in warm biomes, appearing in groups of two or three. They react defensively by curling into a ball if approached too quickly, so a slow and cautious approach is key to preventing this.
You can find Armadillos in the following biomes:
- Badlands
- Eroded Badlands
- Savanna
- Savanna Plateau
- Windswept Savanna
- Wooded Badlands
There are two primary methods for obtaining Armadillo Scutes:
1. Watch and Wait
Similar to how Chickens drop Eggs, Armadillos naturally shed a Scute every 5-10 minutes. This passive method requires no items or effort, making it an easy but slower option for collecting Scutes. It might not be the most exciting approach, especially if you're planning to protect multiple Wolves.
2. Brushing
The most popular method involves using a Brush, which is crafted from a Feather, a Copper Ingot, and a Stick arranged vertically in the center of the Crafting Table. Brushing an Armadillo yields one Scute per use. In Java Edition, an unenchanted Brush lasts for four uses before breaking, while in Bedrock Edition, it lasts for five. Brushes can be repaired by combining two damaged ones, and enchanted Brushes can retain their enchantments when repaired using an Anvil. Possible enchantments include Unbreaking, Mending, and Curse of Vanishing.
To use this method effectively, approach the Armadillos slowly to avoid their defensive roll. Once close enough, simply brush the Armadillo to collect the Scutes. With enough Brushes, you can gather a substantial amount of Scutes for crafting Wolf Armor.
Once you've gathered the required six Scutes, head to a Crafting Table to create a suit of Wolf Armor for your loyal companion.
These are the current methods for obtaining Armadillo Scutes in *Minecraft*, which can be used to craft useful items like Wolf Armor.
