How to Unlock the Monster (Squid) Hunter Trophy/Achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds

While fishing may not be central to your main storyline progression in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, it offers a delightful diversion and a dedicated questline that is essential for unlocking this trophy. To start, you must engage with Kanya's fishing questline, which involves completing several side quests to gather the necessary equipment.

Seeking the Goldenfish

Begin by catching the Goldenfish, which can be found in cave water pools. Head to the Scarlet Forest in Area 6, and use either the Golden Bughead or Common Wood Minnow as bait. The Fallow weather state increases your chances of encountering this elusive fish.

Fishing for Favor

Next, tackle the quest to catch the Gravid Bowfin. This fish is located at the Scarlet Forest base camp and requires the Plenty weather condition. Equip the Emerald Jitterbait and cast your line to secure this catch.

The Catch of a Lifetime!

For this quest, Kanya tasks you with reeling in a Whopper, any large fish that triggers the reeling minigame. The Tuna, found in the lake at Area 17 of the Scarlet Forest, is a reliable choice. Hook a big one and patiently reel it in to complete this step.

After completing these quests, Kanya will introduce the Razzle Dazzle quest, your final step towards unlocking the Monster (Squid) Hunter trophy or achievement. Here's what you need to do:

  • Travel to the Scarlet Forest, specifically Area 17. Ensure the weather is either Downpour or Inclemency. You can use the grill to wait or rest at your camp to change the conditions.
  • Approach the lake and wade into the deep end until you can go no further. Look for squids swimming nearby. If none are present, fast travel to another location and return to see if they spawn.
  • Equip the Tentacle Jig provided by Kanya and start fishing. While the quest requires you to catch the Grand Escunite, your goal for the trophy or achievement is the Goliath Squid. Look for glowing blue shells.
  • When you hook a squid and the reeling minigame starts, you're on the right track. Fight the creature and reel it in when it tires. Once it's close enough to the shore, pull it out to secure your trophy or achievement.

That's everything you need to know to unlock the Monster (Squid) Hunter trophy or achievement in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and guides, be sure to explore The Escapist.
