Halo Infinite Update Boosts Xbox FPS, Relaunch Ad Campaign Suggested

The "Summer 2025 Update" for Halo Infinite, running until June 10, is now live and packed with exciting new features. Players can dive into new playlists, wield the powerful new Mutilator, enjoy sandbox updates, and utilize new Forge tools. The update also expands the Weapon Bench with more weapons and introduces 50 additional tiers, four armor sets, bonus XP, and an extra challenge slot for Premium Operation Pass holders.

Despite these enhancements, opinions on Halo Infinite remain divided. The game has undergone significant transformations since its launch, including the rebranding of its developer from 343 Industries to Halo Studios. This followed a sharp decline in player numbers, attributed to dissatisfaction with content scarcity, progression systems, monetization, and the cancellation of a highly anticipated battle royale mode.

Yet, many fans argue that Halo Infinite has never been better. On a Reddit thread titled "Halo Infinite REALLY should do a 'relaunch' ad campaign. It's just not the same game as at launch. Not even close," one enthusiast shared their experience: "I can't imagine anyone who likes Halo but hasn't given this game a chance, or haven't played since launch, would be disappointed coming back. The game has seen substantial additions since my break, including three new guns, numerous new maps, multiple new firefight modes, and a vast array of items to unlock and grind for. A well-executed trailer showcasing these changes could significantly boost the game's reputation."

They elaborated on the improvements: "The game now boasts three new pieces of equipment, five new guns, over a hundred new maps, ten new game modes, hundreds of new armor pieces, an improved free credit shop, quadrupled ranked playlists, and a career rank system. The old battle passes add almost a thousand tiers, one of which is free and includes great armor from Halo: Reach. The Forge mode is incredible, and the custom games browser, previously seen only in Halo 5, has been a welcome addition."

Other fans echoed this sentiment, with one stating, "I wholeheartedly agree, the game is easily the best game since [Halo 3] and the best 343 has produced. It took a while to get here, but it's been a fun journey." Another added, "Multiplayer-wise, it's the best Halo ever made."

However, not everyone shares this enthusiasm. In another thread discussing the iconic marketing image of Master Chief, one user expressed disappointment: "This image represents the last little bit of hope I had. I genuinely think Halo’s time is over, the people who understood how to make the magic happen are all scattered and gone."

On the other hand, a fan who returned to the game during Season 1 praised it extensively: "I really love Infinite. It revitalized my love for the series. The Spartan customization is the best, and the constant rotation of different modes keeps things fresh. The campaign is unique and fun, with excellent music. As I approach my first Onyx rank and aim for max career rank, I find the gameplay fluid and organic, blending classic Halo feel with modern upgrades. Infinite has outgrown its initial release and continues to improve. It's one of my favorites in the series!"

Another fan added, "It's the best arena shooter on Xbox right now. Halo Infinite scratches that itch that I wish COD did."

IGN's review of Halo Infinite's single-player campaign in 2021 awarded it a 9/10, stating, "Halo Infinite's single-player campaign is exactly what this series needed. It brings out the best in Master Chief's unique and satisfying combat style while leveraging old ideas to create memorable new moments. Its story falls short for both new and veteran players, but it was worth the six-year wait."

With Microsoft's multiplatform strategy in full swing, speculation about Halo Infinite potentially coming to PlayStation has surfaced, following the footsteps of games like Forza Horizon 5 and Gears of War. Phil Spencer, Microsoft's gaming chief, mentioned in November that there are no "red lines" in their first-party lineup, hinting at possible future expansions.
